Not a bad idea. Inge has been working on the community web site as well - I wonder if it would sit nicely in there?

Not really a proper help authoring tool but if you want the benefits of collaborative development what about Google sites? Here's an example we developed collaboratively on the LCoM project https://sites.google.com/site/spacequickhelp/

Just bringing a conversation with Jonathan to the list: does anyone know / recommend / use anything that makes it easy to create online help. Something like asdoc / javadoc but not necessarily for code, something we could use to create a help file for all the page types?

I've used helpmaker (because its free and OK) in the past to create the xerte help file, but it's a .chm file, I'm thinking about something more web based.
