Ron,
That might be a 'quick-and-dirty' solution, but with more and more 
websites turning to https only, imo Xerte should consider to have a 
solution to get around the certificate issue.
It would be even better if websites start using valid certificates. With 
the introduction of solutions like https://letsencrypt.org/ it shouldn't 
be to hard.
