[Xerte] Installation Problems

Have not read the guide, but if it doesn't contain this advice, I'd add it.
I found that I was fixing files on the server and it was having no apparent effect. But when I tried a fresh install with the file(s) already edited, it would work.

Leads me to believe stuff gets cached somewhere and confuses the issue.

So if an install fails, figure the issue out, fix it in the install files, then do a fresh install to a new directory with new names (database etc).

Hello,

It’s unlikely that http://ileadflow.com is your database host.

As for LDAP the alternatives
are

1)      No
authentication – for this rename index.php to something else and then rename
demo.txt to index.php – this will then allow you to avoid LDAP, but it will
mean that anyone who runs that code will have access to your system

2)      Switch.txt
– open up this file in the root folder, look about halfway down for a series of
silly usernames and passwords, set up one of these for yourself. Then rename
index.php and rename switch.txt to index.php

3)      Use
something else to provide integration – for this you’d need to look at
integration.txt and link this into some other authentication provider.

Pat

Hi
Sophie,

Are
yo usure you set up the database access correctly?.

Is ileadflow.com the address of your mysql
database server? If it is, try using http://ileadflow.com

And it seems you left the password field blank, are you sure you
don’t need it? Or maybe just came from the server address error.

Good Luck!

Marc

Hi,

I am desperately
trying to install Xerte Toolkits on my webserver and am on setup/page4.php and
have errors everywhere. I send a request before but forgot to include my
error:

Warning:
mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Unknown MySQL server
host 'ileadflow.com/' (1) in /home/bpatch1/public_html/xrtlkts/setup/page4.php on
line 3

Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]:
Access denied for user 'bpatch1'@'localhost' (using password: NO) in /home/bpatch1/public_html/xrtlkts/setup/page4.php
on line 17

Warning: mysql_select_db() [function.mysql-select-db]:
A link to the server could not be established in /home/bpatch1/public_html/xrtlkts/setup/page4.php
on line 17

and so on, and so
on all the way to the end of the page.

Thanks for your
help and direction,

Sophie
