RTF has the advantage of being fairly ubiquitous whether its an Open
Office user, Word Pad or anything between.
PDF can be fairly accessible as well but harder to add own notes etc
into.
Web pages are generally the best but from a training point of view many
people do like to be able to printout a nicely formatted guide which
points back to Doc/RTF type formats.

Subject: [Xerte] Toolkits documentation
Hello all,
Just making some documentation for the site to help people manage /
customise / trouble shoot.
What are people's preferences on file formats - PDF / Docx / RTF? I'd
like people to actively modify and change the documents, but don't want
to end up acting as a librarian.
Is there any information people would like included / guidance on?
Any advice / best practice from other open source products people would
like to share?
Thanks all
Patrick Lockley
