Or perhaps just a separate sheet in the same document?
Giving via LO properties in the normal workspace works fine and following
your code updates sharing works too. But I just tested giving via the
management area and although the given template dissapears from the original
owners list it doesn't seem to appear in the target owners list. Shutting
down now but will have a look on the server itself to see what happened to
the given project.

I concur - but the role of the spreadsheet is the question?
If its for discussing fine, but it's not a document that is easy to "work"
off (which page is this, how do i recreate the error) Maybe a second
document for work in progress?
I've not tried giving a project to some one else in the admin panel - maybe
that's worth trying.
