Yes, thank you, Yetta, for the clarification. It’s just that we can’t change the criteria in the middle of the process.

Dear Reading Hall of Fame members,
Once again, the issue of the 25 year rule has come up. This email is a reminder of the RHF business meeting of 2019, with Drs. Ray Reutzel as President, Diane Lapp as President-Elect, Patti Anders as Treasurer, Norm Stahl as Historian, and me as secretary.
The issue came up as I was secretary and trying to determine who was eligible for RHF induction during the summer of 2019. As a result of the difficulties I was having determining eligibility, a Board meeting was held in June, 2019. After much debate, the Board agreed on a solution and presented it to the membership at the RHF business meeting of December 2019. At that time, we were drafting new rules for the 2020-2025 years.
The issue was discussed at length by RHF members at the December 2019 meeting. In fact, some of you who have criticized the rule most recently were present at that meeting and part of that discussion. The RHF membership voted in favor of the current criteria, including the 25 year rule.
We did the best we could with the information we had available, and you all as RHF members voted on the procedures, including the current 25 year rule. If you still have a problem with the new rule in November, then please bring it up at the November, 2021 business meeting.
Thanks for your understanding,
Sincerely,
Jan Dole
Reading Hall of Fame Secretary
