Hello colleagues

So sad to hear about Bill's passing.

I was lucky enough to get to know him a little over the last few years and
then to spend a lot of time with him during his visit to the Hobart
conference last year. His presentation at that conference was excellent.

He was scholarly, smart, warm, and fun, without a hint of pretense or
solemnity -- all the virtues.

His friends here send their condolences to Junka and Alyssa.
