Dear colleagues
We are very excited to announce the 2026 International Mathstory Competition, and I would be very grateful if you could share this opportunity with your students and colleagues.
Mathstory is an international competition for undergraduate students and students in the final two years of pre-university education (A-levels, senior secondary school, K11-K12, preparatory studies, or equivalent). Participants create a 3 - 4 minute digital story that communicates the beauty, meaning and real-world relevance of mathematics.
Complementing more traditional mathematics competitions, Mathstory celebrates creativity, communication, and the ability to explain mathematical ideas in engaging and meaningful ways. Many educators have successfully incorporated narrative and storytelling into their teaching to help students engage more deeply with mathematics, make connections between abstract ideas and real-world contexts, and communicate mathematical concepts with confidence. The competition provides an excellent opportunity for students to apply these skills, reflect on the relevance of mathematics, and share their ideas with an international audience. Whether students are passionate about mathematics or are simply interested in its impact on society, we encourage them to take part.
The competition attracted entries from the USA, the UK, Malaysia, India, Greece and Kenya in 2025, and we hope to welcome an even broader international community this year.
