[Glycoweb-all] GlycoWeb all team meet in person in Nottingham - 6th Oct

Hello all,
We’ve updated the plan for all PDRAs/PhDs/Techs: there is no need to pre-record your presentation.
Instead, each person will give a 10-minute presentation on the day (strictly timed).

Please see the details below from Kenton:

For the 6th October the PhDs, PDRAs and Techs will be expected to present their work. In that context this is what we expect:

  *   Each person would aim for 10min + questions. This is not long, so needs to be slick.
  *   This is Glycoweb, so don’t present work from side projects.
  *   What you have been doing in context of glycoweb objectives.  This needs to be focused as answering questions/hypotheses or creating hypotheses that can later be tested.
  *   Results must be quantified (there should not be time to show N=1)*
  *   Results must be explained not shown…. The audience don’t want to have to interpret a dataset, you need to explain it to them.
  *   Figures need to be publication-ready, not just the output of a machine… readable scales/ labels etc (a ‘preflight checklist’ is attached for guidance).
  *   Future work should be brief and focus on what will be delivered. *can use N=1 in this to help context.
Further, please can you ensure that all of your protocols, outputs and data are correctly on the glycoweb team.

Hello all,
To help us save time on the day of our meeting, we’ll do some pre-meeting preparation:

1. For all PDRAs, PhD students, and Technicians:
a. Please prepare a short presentation (5 slides) covering:
– What work you’ve done
– What has been blocking your progress
– What are your plans going forward
Please have your slides ready by 25th September (our next All-Team Delivery Meeting) and record your presentation by 1st October, so the academics have time to review them in advance.

b. We’ll display your existing posters during lunch on the two screens in the room.

2.For academics: Please review the presentations ahead of the meeting.

3. Dinner( Monday 6th Oct):
I’ll send out a separate calendar invitation shortly. Please confirm your attendance and let me know if you have any dietary requirements.

4. Team building on Tuesday 7th October:
We’re planning a team building activity for PDRAs, PhD students, and Technicians. Please let me know if can join.

5. Accommodation:
If you’d like to stay in Nottingham for one night, please let me know 😊
