Subject: UK PG - make your voice heard to one of our main funders
Dear member of the UK PG community,

BBSRC are currently having a community consultation<https://engagementhub.ukri.org/bbsrc-research-strategy-and-programmes/communityconsultation-2024/> ongoing that will feed into the review of the Forward Look for UK Bioscience<https://www.ukri.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/BBSRC-01122021-Forward-Look-for-UK-Bioscience.pdf>. Please consider contributing, to make sure proteoglycan and glycosaminoglycan research receives the attention it deserves when one of our main funding bodies plans for the future!

I think we all agree that glycosciences at large, and proteoglycan/glycosaminoglycan science in particular, are research areas in which the UK has considerable strengths. The growing number of participants at the annual UKPG meetings bears testament of a striving and growing community, of which you are part! Yet, recognition for this area in terms of dedicated funding sources is relatively scarce. Here is an opportunity to make our voice heard, and to help shaping the new Forward Look.

We thus seek your participation in this consultation which may influence the BBRSC strategy when they refresh their strategic framework in Forward Look for UK Bioscience<https://www.ukri.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/BBSRC-01122021-Forward-Look-for-UK-Bioscience.pdf>. The BBSRC welcomes opinions from all career stages, from PhD students to senior academics to industrial partners and beyond. Your views will build on existing intelligence drawn from stakeholder engagement, and help BBSRC shape their direction for the next 5 to 10 years to come.

Submit your views here<https://engagementhub.ukri.org/bbsrc-research-strategy-and-programmes/communityconsultation-2024/>, the deadline for submission is 20th September 2024.

Thanks for your support!

With kind wishes,
Ralf

PS: With apologies for the rather short notice, we were made aware of this initiative only recently.
