Call for session proposals - NAM 2025
The Royal Astronomical Society is pleased to announce that the 2025 National Astronomy Meeting (NAM2025) will be held at Durham University from Monday 7th July to Friday 11th July. In addition to the UK's broad astronomy community, including the astro-particle and instrumentation communities, the meeting is also focused on the UK Solar Physics (UKSP) community with participation from both the Magnetosphere Ionosphere and Solar-Terrestrial (MIST) and planetary geophysics communities.
NAM2025 is organised in conjunction with Durham University's Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy<https://astro.dur.ac.uk/CEA/>, the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation<https://www.dur.ac.uk/research/institutes-and-centres/advanced-instrumentation/>, the Institute for Computational Cosmology<https://icc.dur.ac.uk/>, the Institute for Particle Physics Phenomenology<https://www.ippp.dur.ac.uk/>, and the Department of Mathematical Sciences<https://www.durham.ac.uk/departments/academic/mathematical-sciences/>.
The call for session-proposal submissions is now open. We encourage members of all communities across all levels of seniority to apply for specialist and cross-disciplinary scientific presentation and discussion sessions. As well as hosting parallel sessions of varying duration, the conference may host collaborative meetings, workshops and lunch sessions. The applicants of any successful proposals will be expected to take on the role of scientific organisers of the session. We also encourage proposals for dedicated sessions on topics relevant to the UK astronomical community, such as professional practice, sustainability, engagement, diversity and inclusion. We note that abstracts will be assessed anonymously and request that applicants take this into account when writing their session-proposal plans.
We are planning a hybrid meeting, in which the majority of participants attend in person, but with the opportunity for remote participation for additional delegates. Session proposers should consider any implications for their proposals. Participant accessibility is a key consideration for NAM2025.
Proposals should be submitted on-line at https://nam2025.astro.durham.ac.uk/abstracts/. Note we are using Indico for NAM2025 and so you will need an account to submit a proposal but, don't worry, an Indico account is quick and easy to create. The deadline for submitting session proposals is Friday 6th Dec 2024 at 17:00 UTC.
