[Xerte] variable in dec icon repeat property

I have a dec icon with a single page attached.
I want it to execute only the first time it is encountered.

The page contains a LoadVars call with an event trigger.

If I set the repeat property to 0, it bypasses the dec.
If I set the repeat property to 1, it executes the dec.

But if I try to use a variable set to 0 or 1, it just enters the dec and stalls. 

repeat property can't use a var?
