Subject: [apereo-projects] FWD: Metrics on Software Community Health

This message has been sent to the Apereo open discussion list, but I wanted to be sure that every software community had sight of it. Please encourage members of your community to join the open list - I know some of you do already, for which, thanks.

Best

Ian

Assessing the health of open source software and the community that sustains it is a major area of interest for would-be adopters. Providing data that can help inform selection of open source software has been has been a repeated topic of conversation in the Apereo community and its forerunners. Following board discussion around future directions for Apereo early in 2018, software communities were asked to participate in a conversation to explore possibilities - what such data might look like, and how often it should be refreshed with a minimal overhead to the community concerned. A group of community volunteers working on this issue have put together an initial draft of potential metrics for community discussion. The document can be found at -http://bit.ly/SoftwareHealth

Please use open at apereo.org to discuss the draft. Joining instructions can be found at http://bit.ly/ApereoLists
