Hi Pat
I've not had any problems dropping updates over the top before unless of course the update has bugs but obviously it's always advisable to backup database and directories just in case.

On this occasion it seems your first hunch was correct - some kind of cache at play - because this morning creating new projects is working fine without any changes.

As I mentioned I had already cleared browser cache and tried different browsers and restarted Apache so perhaps there's some kind of proxy cache in play that has now cleared. Or perhaps a server setting which isn't affected by restarting Apache. The person at the college who would know about proxy etc is on leave now so I can't check until January. But at least it's working now!

Cheers
Ron

If I was guessing i'd say 1.9 can't be dropped over the top then, but I don't know that's true

Thanks Pat
I did try clearing cache and also restarted Apache too.
Will explore further and report back tomorrow.

Sounds like cached javascript, those extra numbers are the browser window sizes

Hi all
I'm reporting this now just in case others find the same problem and if so I'd be keen to know...

I upgraded a 1.8 install earlier and expected it to be problem free but I'm seeing an odd problem and need to do some more testing tomorrow but something to look out for:

All was working fine before the upgrade but after upgrade I noticed that in IE when I click to create a new project nothing happens. If I then refresh the project is there and I can edit ok. This sounded like a problem Tom reported previously and I suggested was down to a pop-up blocker but it seems not.

If I click to create a new project in another browser I do get a pop up but the url ends with something like /edit.php?template_id=11,800,665 which seems to be breaking the editor link. If I trim the ,800,665 and put the rest in a new window all is fine e.g. I can edit the project.

Clicking edit on any existing projects or newly created projects after refresh works fine too so it just seems to be a problem when creating a new project.

I'm baffled as to why this would crop up with this upgrade when it hasn't on the Techdis server.

I'll test further tomorrow but if anyone can replicate this or has any ideas please share your findings.

Cheers
Ron
