Dear Anjum and Kumar, I am able with my friends determine the specimens of difficult genus Eupeodes, but we need to examine these specimens, the photo is isufficient.      Best wishes      Pavel

     Wonderful news !  Are you Dr K. Mahmood's student ?  We have been writing to each other about collaborating on Pakistan Syrphidae, which are poorly known.
      The photograph is not good.  But it is a Betasyrphus, most probably B. isaaci (Bhatia).  I would be pleased to help your IDs but undamaged specimens are best, not poor images.
       Please correspond with me directly (kumarsinh.g at gmail.com) if you agree to collaborate and work with me. Wish you good luck with your studies.  What is most required are fresh collections, mainly from the Himalayas in Pakistan and higher locations in Baluchistan.  I have just completed a ms titled "Hover-flies (Diptera: Syrphidae) of the North-West Frontier, Indian subcontinent: a tribute to Enrico Brunetti (1862-1927)," which lists 40 known species from Pakistan belonging to 23 genera.
