Dear all
Action - responses by 3.30pm, 9 November please
We have confirmation that we are due to receive another allocation from Research England's Quality-related Research Policy Support Funding (QR-PSF - previously known as Strategic Priorities Funding or QR-SPF). This funding is to be used for research activity that supports evidence-based policy making, with a particular focus on addressing particular local and regional economic and social priorities.
We have yet to receive our formal allocation letter from Research England, but given the tight timeframes involved in this funding we have decided to launch our internal call ahead of time. We do not expect there to be anything in the allocation letter that would have implications for the internal call process, but we will alert you should there be any changes.
As in previous years, the money will need to be spent by 31 March. While we may be able internally to manage a little flexibility beyond that date to the end of the academic year, this means that we need ideas that can be got up and running quickly and can demonstrate clear progress by 31 March.
A range of activities can be funded under QR-PSF. You may wish to refer to the guidance<https://re.ukri.org/funding/our-funds-overview/qr-strategic-priorities-fund/> on the UKRI website for last year's fund. We do not expect significant changes to the list of eligible activities for this year, but we will advise you as soon as any update occurs. Activities might include work to take existing research into the policy domain through secondments, partnerships etc; it might be to develop, support or extend research that is likely to have policy impact; or it might be about building capacity (buying kit, training, developing platforms, doing preparatory analysis etc) to increase our capability for the future.
Anyone wishing to apply for this funding should complete the short form here https://nottingham-research.worktribe.com/record.jx?recordid=6459253 by 3.30pm, 9 November. There will be no cap on the size of any one proposal.
Please be advised that we had confirmation of the award to the sector, but are still awaiting an award letter to UoN. There is a risk that the funding may not be available or will need to be reassessed once we have final notification of the award amount and T&Cs. We will be unable to allocate or start projects until this is known and will need to have received the funding before project codes can be issued.
We will consider proposals with a view to building up a portfolio of projects which (a) have clear potential policy impact and (b) are likely to deliver within the tight timescale. We will aim to confirm projects by 16 November.
If you have any questions, please email the Institute<mailto:theinstitute at nottingham.ac.uk>.
Best wishes
Stephen
