Subject: Express interest - Citizen Science

Hi all,

A new call for Citizen Science<https://www.ukri.org/funding/funding-opportunities/involving-citizens-in-research-to-address-societal-challenges/> is opening 8th June (closing date 9th September 2020). This call is centrally managed.

If you are interested in this call please express interest by emailing Harry Moriarty<mailto:h.moriarty at exmail.nottingham.ac.uk> by 1st July. The next steps will be advertised in due course.

All disciplines are considered eligible and the scope is UKRI wide. The vision is to 'spread citizen science methods into new fields of research and involve citizens to address societally-relevant issues'.

The webinar (last Wednesday<https://ukri.zoom.us/rec/play/vJEtceGrpzs3EteWuQSDAPR-W46-Jq2s0CYWr_dZmk-yVngKYFGmZ7MRZORjb4tDICU-tTgCT_qi_J_A?continueMode=true>, password 5m#!^B0Q) confirmed that they want to see:

  * '5-8 awards' made, max award £375,000 fEC
  * Projects from 13 years in length
  * Collaborations between researchers who have held citizen science grants before and researchers who haven't
  * Multidiscipline work (can be between different disciplines within the same School/ Faculty)
  * Focus on societally relevant issues within the UK, not overseas, involving defined groups of citizens

Submissions will be judged on adherence to the ten principles of citizen science<https://ecsa.citizen-science.net/sites/default/files/ecsa_ten_principles_of_citizen_science.pdf> (in the context of this call 'science' can be read as 'all disciplines'). They are not requiring letters of support at application stage.

I'm keen to help connect 'novice' citizen science researchers with previous grant holders so please be in touch. There is support from the Institute of Policy and Engagement<https://www.nottingham.ac.uk/policy-and-engagement/home.aspx> for this call and further information at our site<https://uniofnottm.sharepoint.com/sites/O365-ResearchDevelopmentandFunding/SitePages/Citizen-Science-Collaboration-Grant.aspx>.

Kind regards,

Harry
