Dear all,

Being Human Festival: Call for activities for the 2019 programme: 'Discoveries & Secrets'

In November each year the festival brings together universities, museums, galleries, archives, independent research organisations, community and commercial partners to make research in the humanities accessible to non-specialist audiences and demonstrate its relevance to our everyday lives. The festival encourages interactive forms of public engagement, incorporating public lectures, performance, displays, guided tours, music events, panel discussions, demonstrations, workshops and any other form of engagement.

In 2018 'Our Many Points of Connections', the festival offering of our university, was the largest Being Human programme in the Midlands and attracted an audience of more than 300 people across 11 events.

The festival will return in 2019 between the 14 and 23 November and will explore the theme 'Discoveries & Secrets'. If you are interested in taking part, please submit a 300-400 word description of the proposed event to Hannah Roberts (bbahr at exmail.nottingham.ac.uk<mailto:bbahr at exmail.nottingham.ac.uk>) by 21st February including a short activity description, indication of the target audience, nature of the research used, type of venue sought, or ideas for a venue and if possible an early indication of the costs.

The events should:
* Demonstrate aspects of humanities research in ways that are entertaining and accessible for non-specialist audiences
* Have direct involvement from a humanities researcher in delivering the event
* Be held during the festival dates
* Take place in a venue outside the university campus

Best wishes,
Anna
