[Public-engagement] Request for academic judges

Hello all,


We are seeking some academics who would be willing and interested in being on the judging panel for the Tri-Campus 3-Minute Thesis Competition.


3MT is a competition celebrating the research conducted by PhD students around the world. It aims to increase the participants capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. Competitors are allowed one PowerPoint slide, but no other resources or props. We are looking for academic members of staff with an interest in (and understanding of) public engagement.


The winner of the Tri-Campus 3MT will go on to represent Nottingham at the U21 competition. There are various regional and National competitions too, and Nottingham students have had considerable success in these over the last few years, so the presentations should be good - it's not an arduous task!


We are looking for 3-4 judges from each Campus, judging would take place online via moodle so shouldn't take up too much time, I would think no more than 15-20 minutes to watch and score three entries.
