The Section of Mathematics Education at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of the University of Cologne invites applications for a

W2-Professorship (m/f) in Mathematics Education





The candidate should have an excellent research expertise in the field of didactics of mathematics (mathematics education research). The candidate is expected to participate in cooperative projects on the teaching and learning of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.

With respect to teaching the professorship contributes to different levels of mathematics and its education, including particularly undergraduate and graduate programs for pre-service mathematics teachers in primary schools, general-education secondary schools, and special education. International candidates must be prepared to teach in German.



The candidate is encouraged to choose his or her own thematic focus in teaching and research.



Qualification requirements for the position are a university degree in mathematics, outstanding pedagogical skills, a PhD as well as additional scientific achievements, specifically a habilitation or outstanding achievements as a postdoc or junior professor. Teaching experience in schools or long-lasting experiences with teaching mathematics are welcome.



Qualification requirements are in accordance with the North Rhine-Westphalia University Law and include an excellent track record in research and teaching. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
