[Maths-Education] PhD studiesin mathematics education - think of Norway

The University of Agder,  which is located in Kristiansand at the southern tip of Norway is currently advertising up to three PhD fellowships in mathematics education. Deadline May 31.
For those satisfying the requirements for entry to the programme, and who are fluent in spoken and written English, these fellowships provide an excellent opportunity to research for a PhD in mathematics education.

Basic requirements for appointment include: a master's degree in mathematics education or mathematics, or equivalent academic/professional background. Sound competence in mathematics and mathematics education is required. Relevant teaching experience will be an advantage. (see announcement for more details)
The positions are open to those fluent in English. (Knowledge of a Scandinavian language is preferred but not essential).
A PhD fellowship at the University of Agder entails:
A temporary three year contract of employment at the University, the salary is just over 390,000NOK per year (about £42,000 at current exchange rates). This is sufficient for a comfortable (but not lavish) life in a magnificent country! (The announcement includes further information about conditions of service)
All courses are taught in English. Supervision is in English or Norwegian according to agreement between supervisor and fellow. Dissertations can be written in English or Norwegian. Fieldwork can be carried out in another country if necessary.
Studies are supported by an excellent library that has been stocked to support one of Northern Europe's foremost research groups in mathematics education. All the major mathematics education journals are available on-line or hard copy.
The mathematics education research group at the University of Agder is truly international with scholars from Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, UK, Brazil, Algeria.
