Not eye-tracking, but brain scans. You can find a report in John
Anderson's recent book on studies of brain activation while doing
algebraic processing.

I've just completed a preliminary study using an eye tracker in an
attempt to correlate mathematical expertise and the amount of cognitive
processing carried out. Is anyone a aware of any studies involving the
use of eye tracking and students reading/interpretation of mathematics,
particularly algebraic problems?
