Postgraduate Certificate in Mathematics Support and Dyslexia/Dyscalculia in HE/FE

Commencing in May 2011

This course, validated by Loughborough University, has been set up in response to the high level of demand for specialist training in supporting dyslexic and dyscalculic students with the mathematical and statistical demands of their HE and FE level courses. This course is the first to address this need. The course is accredited by the BDA at the level of Approved Teacher Status (ATS HE/FE)

The course is aimed at both Mathematics, Science and Engineering graduates wishing to teach students with Specific Learning Differences and specialist teachers who are involved in supporting students with SpLDs with study skills in Mathematics. The design of the course aims to ensure that both groups not only have the opportunity to discuss and share expertise, but also to learn skills separately where appropriate.

Attendance at the University is 15 days in total. The remainder of the studies are undertaken via guided independent study and teaching practice. The next course will start in May 2011.
