The 10th International Congress on Mathematical Education (ICME-10) will be
held in Copenhagen, Denmark, July 4-11, 2004.
This is a call for short papers for ICME-10 TSG-8: Research and development =

in the teaching and learning of number and arithmetic

 Meetings of the TSG consist of three 1 hr and one 1=BD hr sessions.
In the 1 hr sessions a plenary =BD hr lecture will be followed by focussed =
discussion to include contributions from authors of papers published on the =

web-site prior to the sessions. These papers will contribute to discussion =
on the following topics:
Session 1 - 'Developing number sense' with plenary by Prof Alistair =
McIntosh (University of Tasmania, Australia);
Session 2 - 'The role of contexts and models' with plenary by Prof =
Christoph.Selter  (University of  Heidelberg, Germany ).
Session 3 - 'Learning arithmetic through problem solving' with plenary by =
Prof Brian Greer (San Diego State University, USA).
Session 4 - Plenary panel with introduction by Dr Julia Anghileri =
(University of Cambridge, UK)
