You are invited to enter
the 2001 Open University (CME)
Mathematics Education Challenge Competition
Closing Date November 12th 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time
Mathematics education as a discipline has grown enormously over
recent years. We invite you to submit a list of the 5 central
constructs which most inform current teaching and research in
mathematics education, those 5 constructs that you believe it most
important a new researcher in mathematics education should be
familiar with. If you wish, you can include a justification of your
selection, up to 250 words.
Submission
Entries should be submitted by email to j.h.mason@open.ac.uk with the
subject line 'CME competition'.
Judging
The entries will be judged by members of the Centre for Mathematics Education.
The winner will be the person whose selection most closely matches or
represents all of the entries sent in.
In case of a tie, the justification will be used to decide the winner.
The judges' decision will be final.Tthe results will be published on
the CME website http://mcs.open.ac.uk/cme/
Prizes
The winner(s) will be offered a choice of prize from the following books:
Alan Graham - "30 Photocopiable Graphic Calculator Activities for
KS3", (A&B Books)
John Mason - Learning and Doing, (QED books)
John Mason - Researching Your Own Practice: the discipline of noticing
(RoutledgeFalmer).
Mike Ollerton & Anne Watson - Inclusive Mathematics 11-16 (Continuum)
