Press Release: Maths Year 2000 wins prestigious educational award!!!

The Maths Year 2000 website www.mathsyear2000.org was acclaimed last week as
the best educational website of the year 2000, when Will Bulman, MY2000's
webmaster, received the BETT 2001 award at a prestigious ceremony in the
London Park Lane Hilton.

Latest figures show that www.mathsyear2000.org receives a million hits per
week. Also, if you just type "maths" in the Alta Vista or Google search
engine, then Maths Year 2000 comes out at the top of your list.

The BETT Awards are designed to reward excellence in product design and
usage and reflect achievement in all areas of ICT.

Maths Year 2000 is a government-funded campaign to promote maths and
encourage a can-do attitude towards the subject. From April 2001 the project
will be called "Count On" and the website will continue to be a major
valuable resource to the education community.

Barry Lewis, Director of Maths Year 2000 said:
"The website reflects our central aim - making maths exciting, accessible
and enjoyable. This award recognises the success we have had in doing just
that."
