Good morning,

I would be interested in any comments on the GEOMETRIA software, which was
released a few months ago. Geometria is a standalone Java application. This
means one can run it just as well on a PC (Windows, Linux) as on a Sun
machine.

With Geometria one can either compose or solve problems. A number of basic
shapes are available (prisms, pyramids, Platonic solids) to cut, join,
transform, or one can build a new shape from scratch using a smart xyGrid.
Once composed, a problem can be saved for further editing or resolving. The
standard package includes 60 sample problems with resolutions classified
into 8 categories, according to their complexity: Honey, Sugar, Vanilla,
Salt, Vinegar, Ginger, Mustard, Pepper.

Solids may be revolved, measured, drawn upon. The user is encouraged to
perform all measurements and calculations symbolically, thorugh the notepad
and built-in calculator, though all results are displayed numerically too.
An editable resolution log allows you to branch out a new move from any
point of your resolution. One may save the resolution for further
consideration or email it to a friend or a teacher.

A demo applet and a shareware package are available at

http://www.geocentral.net/geometria

The standard package is also available for free evaluation upon request.

With best wishes,
Stelian Dumitrascu
