What's the file size of each of those files?
In the workspace with the project selected what does the middle column report as the project size?
If the wmv is playing when you view the LO it's probably playing via a local browser plugin and not the built-in xerte player.
The xerte player will only play .mp4 (or .flv if using the Flash engine option). Other video formats should not really be uploaded direct to Xerte and rather embedded from a streaming service. Generally this is better anyway e.g. streaming rather than downloading.
Even if your file upload limit is set higher than the individual file size when you are exporting it's the total project file size that you need to take account of and the server resources and server memory_limit setting can also have an effect on the ability to export or not.
Is the LO public that we can view?

Hi
Yes that is the file in question but for some reason the .wmv version of it loaded ok but it is the MP4 quicktime file that is giving the JSON error which we want to use. I can try deleting the wmv and uploading the mp4 again if you like to see if that works but I am sure we tried that first?

How do I rectify this as they are all needed and plenty more below the screenshot? Is something happening during the zipping up as when I extracted the zip files they are all present in the media folder so am slightly baffled again now.

Yes Ron – spot on!! It would have been easier to send the embed code for their VLE but I think we have solved it now. The images are not in the media folder on our web server, not sure how that happened as you have to use the upload image part in Xerte, but anyway – hopefully a simple fix but nice talking to you all again!!
Thanks as always for your prompt responses and help J

Is this for learning futures?
If the "external parties" upload to their own vle's etc the LO's should work fine.
If they extract and view locally that should also work fine in most browser or in IE if they click to allow blocked content. There isn't any way to avoid that prompt in IE when vieing offline.

Everything is working brilliantly thank you. I like this version and found it really easy to work with and only touched on a few of its many features but we are just having trouble running from the index file. I have selected the HTML option rather than Flash on the Xerte settings but here are the 2 errors. (We are working on a college network here but I did save it all locally on my C drive)

Upgrading is the best option for most organisations. Exporting and importing into a new install isn't practical or necessary for organisational installations with lots of existing LO's. Just follow the upgrade instructions and obviously back-up first then test before restoring access to everyone.
As Julian says very few issues with existing projects especially if already version 2.1.

Yes, LO's made in XoT 2.x are 1 on 1 compatible with LO's in XoT 3.0
You just need to export the LO's as zip and import the zips in XoT 3.0
I have used this on a new server. The old server had XoT 2.0 installed. The new server has XoT 3.0 installed.
However, I have not tested an udate from XoT 2.x to XoT 3.0 on the same server. Maybe Tom can respond on that?

Hi
Before I ask our IT folks to upgrade XOT to version 3, can I be reassured there is backwards compatibility? i.e. Will LOs we made in version 2 still be editable and usable in version 3?
AIso, is there anything in particular we need to be careful of when upgrading?
