Even with the offline export option Internet Explorer will prompt to allow
blocked content. If you click to allow the blocked content the LO should
play fine? Firefox should play the content without prompt as should Chrome
as long as you've used the offline export.
The project should play fine if uploaded to a web server.
This is not really a xerte specific issue it's to do with browser security
preventing loading of external content which in the case of Xerte is the xml
that makes it work.
In short your exported project should work fine when uploaded to your web
server and the offline export should work fine in most browsers but in IE
will give that prompt to allow blocked content.
The only other thing is that there were some code changes after the original
version 3 release so if when you view the exported learning object there are
missing images etc you may need to update your install and re-export but
that's only likely to be the case if your upgraded immediately after the
initial release of version 3.

Hi
Everything is working brilliantly thank you. I like this version and found
it really easy to work with and only touched on a few of its many features
but we are just having trouble running from the index file. I have selected
the HTML option rather than Flash on the Xerte settings but here are the 2
errors. (We are working on a college network here but I did save it all
locally on my C drive)

What happens exactly? I'm a bit confused by 'active x controls in explorer',
what do you mean?
What js errors do you see, and when?
Can you post screenshots? Tom knows the export code the best, but will need
a bit more info to figure out what's going wrong.
Is everything else working OK?

Upgrading is the best option for most organisations. Exporting and importing
into a new install isn't practical or necessary for organisational
installations with lots of existing LO's. Just follow the upgrade
instructions and obviously back-up first then test before restoring access
to everyone.
As Julian says very few issues with existing projects especially if already
version 2.1.

Yes, LO's made in XoT 2.x are 1 on 1 compatible with LO's in XoT 3.0
You just need to export the LO's as zip and import the zips in XoT 3.0
I have used this on a new server. The old server had XoT 2.0 installed. The
new server has XoT 3.0 installed.
However, I have not tested an udate from XoT 2.x to XoT 3.0 on the same
server. Maybe Tom can respond on that?

Hi
Before I ask our IT folks to upgrade XOT to version 3, can I be reassured
there is backwards compatibility? i.e. Will LOs we made in version 2 still
be editable and usable in version 3?
AIso, is there anything in particular we need to be careful of when
upgrading?
Thanks
Oli
