No, I know how to 'add' them, I'm just wondering what they actually do and
how to use them...wondering if there help file somewhere that explains the
functionality/parameters for things like 'navigation buttons' and 'timed
text'.

Press the 'add' button next to the option dropdown? Is that what you're
looking for?
