Hi Julian

glad to hear that was useful.

If you or one of your colleagues is able to attend the Xerte Friday at 1pm
on 22nd would be great if you could share your account/reflections of the
process etc

Cheers

Ron

Hi

Spotted another out-of-date snippet in that previous list because we
separated out the auth config into a separate file subsequent to those
previous instructions so here's an updated list:

1. backup existing database and directory just in case

2. drop the latest code over top of existing code (for an upgrade you don't
need the setup folder)

3. visit the install to test the basics are working ok via guest access e.g.
create and test an LO

4. If you are using LDAP for authentication visit
<http://yourinstall/upgrade.php> http://yourinstall/upgrade.php to copy
details from sitedeatils to ldap table

5. change from guest to ldap or one of the other authentication options in
auth_config.php by commenting/un-commenting the relevant line. (Note: For
future upgrades avoid overwriting this file if you don't want to revert back
to guest access)

6. If you are using Moodle for authentication read and follow the
instructions in the moodle_integration_readme file

7. refresh index.php and test login and creation etc

Indeed!

That was just a copy and paste from a previous message and I guess to future
proof should read...

2. drop the latest code over top of...

Ron, Julian,

I think in step 2, Ron meant to say drop 1.91 code over the top of existing
code....

Hi Julian

This will hopefully be covered during the next Xerte Friday on 22nd March
but here's a summary that I've posted to the list previously:

1. backup existing database and directory just in case

2. drop 1.8 code over top of existing code (for an upgrade you don't need
the setup folder)

3. visit the install to test the basics are working ok via guest access e.g.

config.php by commenting/un-commenting the relevant line

6. If you are using Moodle for authentication read and follow the
instructions in the moodle_integration_readme file

7. refresh index.php and test login and creation etc

The most recent code is always available from the svn but that can sometimes
contain new issues too whereas the zip downloads are less up-to-date.

Hi all,

Is there any documentation available on upgrading our 1.8 installation of
XOT to 1.9? In particular we have quite a large number of learning objects
linked to from within Moodle and want to make sure the upgrade doesn't
break the links.

Any tips or things we should be looking out for? Where is the best place to
get the most recent version of 1.9?

Any help much appreciated!

cheers

Hi all,

We have just received the following from an instructional designer working
on a university project using Xerte:

"The XERTE server won't allow me to export zip files so I can't
keep a manual backup. At present I'm having to double build on a
non-UoB XERTE server (something I'd prefer not to do because it can be
quite time consuming). I was wondering if this is something they were
aware of?"

We are currently running 1.8. Any suggestions?

cheers
