The Navigator pages aren’t the same as the Connector pages. If the sandpit isn’t up to date it probably doesn’t have the Connector pages on it (they would appear in a separate category called Connectors beneath the Navigators category)

The navigator pages generally allow you to put several layers of information on a page, for example in a series of tabs or sub pages.
The connector pages generally allow you to create different routes through content based on a user’s choices/answers, rather than the traditional linear format (page 1, page 2, page 3... etc.)

If you use the most up to date files on a local install you should be able to access these extra pages.

Subject: [Xerte] Re: installing Xerte

Hi Sarah,

I think the techdis sandpit is version 1.7, whereas the most up to date version is 1.9. The main difference is that 1.9 has support for html5 playback and a few bug fixes.

If you run XOT locally then it depends on how local it is. If you run using Maxos or via localhost / xampp then the install tends to be for one user - and so the sharing features are available, but you've no one to share with so they are somewhat spurious.

On some networks a local pc install can be accessed from other pcs so sharing might work

Hope the helps

Pat

Hello all
We (Learning Services, University of Roehampton) are at the stage of thinking about installing Xerte, having had a go at creating content in the sandpit. I have some questions:

· If we do a web server install, will the functionality essentially be the same as the sandpit version?

· I want a few other people to try it before we install it fully, so I was thinking of doing a local install first, but it says that there would be some unavailable features. Does anyone know what would be unavailable with this version?

· I was at the community day back in October and Jonathan Kemp gave a presentation about “connector” pages, are these the pages that are called “Navigators” in the sandpit version?
Any help would be greatly appreciated and help me to feed back to the rest of the team here.
Many thanks
Sarah
