Looks like upgrading to 1.9 should resolve your problem e.g. here's a quick test using < and latex in both the plain text page and the slideshow page in both the instruction and nested pages. It doesn't resolve the alt text issue when using latex because I don't think that's coded into either the flash or html 5 models. http://mitchellmedia.co.uk/xot/play_40 http://mitchellmedia.co.uk/xot/play_html5_40 HTHRon From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Augusto Terada

Subject: [Xerte] Re: [XOT] Inserting special character I tried Latex and it worked, but one of the requisites of the LO i'm doing is that it's fully accessible. I tested it and it doesn't seem to be, it creates an image...Dave said something about the text area type and I was wondering: Do you think it's possible to create a model based on slideshow and change the type of the text area? I'm using XOT 1.8and i'm trying to display texts like: n < 20 2013/1/14 Ron Mitchell <ronm at mitchellmedia.co.uk>What version of xot are you using? Give us an example of what you are trying to display? From: xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk [mailto:xerte-bounces at lists.nottingham.ac.uk] On Behalf Of Augusto Terada

In Xerte desktop if I put 1 < 2 it appears correctly. Where exactly are you entering the text? Dave Date: Sun, 13 Jan 2013 21:20:58 -0200

Yes, it is, but it recognizes it as a function tag and the rest of the text disappears.2013/1/11 Pat Lockley <patrick.lockley at googlemail.com>i think its < > isn't it? What happens if you just try <? Another thing that might work is to create a variable in a script icon, then embedding that variable in the text icon: script icon:lessThan = “<”; text icon:{“if (1 “ + lessThan + “ 2) echo ‘The universe is in order’; “} Using curly braces in a text icon makes it an expression.
