So yes, I suppose if you did
<tex src=”some LaTeX” alt=”An alt string”>
We could display the alt text.

We do the samee thing in both:
You write <tex src=”someLatexHere”>…
…and we fish out the latex string, send it to a server, which sends the image back, which we display.

The tex is a find and replace so should support an alt tag as well

You are right – the current LaTeX support uses the LaTeX input and creates an image which is ok for many learners but not for screenreader users.
I don’t know the answer to this so it’s really a question to Julian - would the html5 output on Toolkits 1.9 offer better options – for example having plain text Latex embedded in html - or is it the Flash editor that creates the limitations rather than the Flash compiler?

I tried Latex and it worked, but one of the requisites of the LO i'm doing is that it's fully accessible. I tested it and it doesn't seem to be, it creates an image...
Dave said something about the text area type and I was wondering: Do you think it's possible to create a model based on slideshow and change the type of the text area?
I'm using XOT 1.8
and i'm trying to display texts like: n < 20

What version of xot are you using?
Give us an example of what you are trying to display?

Hmm.
In Xerte desktop if I put
1 < 2
it appears correctly.
Where exactly are you entering the text?
Dave

Yes, it is, but it recognizes it as a function tag and the rest of the text disappears.

i think its < > isn't it?

If I put: 1 < 2
It appears: 1
It misses all the text after the symbol.
I don't know how to do this because i'm using Xerte Online Toolkits

I’ve never used the slideshow page (I’ve only used Desktop Xerte). What happens if you just try <?
Another thing that might work is to create a variable in a script icon, then embedding that variable in the text icon:
script icon:
lessThan = “<”;
text icon:
{“if (1 “ + lessThan + “ 2) echo ‘The universe is in order’; “}
Using curly braces in a text icon makes it an expression.
