Take a look at \templates\buttons\checkbox - that has 8 states in it, and those are the way it works...

Subject: [Xerte] Desktop button state question
The default button fla indicates 8 states.
4 regular, 4 checked
I would have expected a "state match" between reg and checked,
i.e.
1,5 //Up, Up checked.
2,6 //Over, Over Checked
etc
But the pattern here is
1,5 //Up, Up checked.
2,6 //Over, Down Checked
Error in the comments, or does it really work this way?
?
//this button contains eight states:
//1. Up state
//2. Over state
//3. Down State
//4. Disabled State
//5. Checked Up State
//6. Checked Down State
//7. Checked Over State
//8. Checked Disabled State
