[Xerte] apache won't start

[SIMMS MAGGY]

Hello folks.
I'm not from a computer science background so please be patient - I have
followed the install instructions for Xerte toolkits (on windows 7).
Everything seems to be present as it should be but apache will not start -
just kind of flickers then remains unchanged. It seems to be saying it is
loading but nothing happens.
Mysql starts OK.

Can anyone explain how I can fix this?
