The more text can be stored in html or xml format the more accessible and malleable it is likely to be. The Flashpaper pagetype one of the least accessible in Xerte Toolkits suite of templates.

I think PDF's store the Jpegs as a string and you can send the HTML 5 canvas element raw data in this form
