[Xerte] Embedding Chinese fonts

Hi,
I have an english Xerte 2 file that I am attempting to translate into Chinese.
All of the text is contained within an XML file that includes HTML tags.
I have attempted to embed multiple Chinese fonts (Simsun, Arial Uni, HanDing) but have been unable to get the text to display while embedFonts is set to 1. If I set it to 0 then I am able to view the Chinese characters but it breaks a lot of the fades and looks messier.
The file looks fine in English so I believe I am embedding the fonts and setting up the XML correctly.
Any help you could give me with Xerte or XML settings would be greatly appreciated. I can provide more information if required.
Thanks in advance,
Chris Dunkley
