I notice in the allowed uploads that gif files are allowed.
I always assumed they weren't - certainly I've never got an animated gif
to work in Xerte much as I would like to.
Or is it that gifs are ok but animated gifs won't work?

Are you using the management page for this? Not sure if the default
settings have changed since previous versions of XOT but as I've just
setup a new install I quickly tested docx upload and it worked fine. Not
sure if the following will get truncated but these are the default
settings in 1.6 for [The allowed upload types for the Media and quota
page are]
text/xml,application/msword,application/x-shockwave-flash,image/jpeg,ima
ge/pjpeg,image/png,image/gif,image/x-png,audio/mpeg,application/vnd.ms-e
xcel,application/pdf,application/vnd.ms-powerpoint,video/x-ms-wmv,text/h
tml,video/mp4,video/avi,audio/wav,text/plain,video/quicktime,application
/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.sheet,application/vnd.o

Hmm, tried adding:
*
application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document
* and - application/vnd.openxmlformats
restarted IIS and cleared cache, but media upload still returns an
invalid file error?

You add the mime types to the management page: Site, server settings.

Subject: [Xerte] media upload - docx support
Hi all
I'm using the media quota via on XOT (accessing through the LO
properties menu) to upload exercise documents that I want students to
download while they work through the learning object. I notice the file
uploader will accept a '.doc' file but not a Word 2007/2010 '.docx'.
Is there a fix available to tell Xerte to allow for .docx uploads? All
of our students and staff are running Office 2007 or newer so there are
no end user compatibility issues there.
Cheers, Adam
