[Xerte] Re: Xerte 2.6

I'll have to speak to someone else about the server side of things
because that has nothing to do with me and I don't know how it will
work. In the meantime I'll look at both Xerte and the online toolkits
on my machine. The problem I see there though, is having to have either
XAMPP or Xerte installed on various machines if others want to use it,
unless they use the sandpit that is.

Thanks for your help and I'll give it a go.

Regards, Kerrie.

It doesn't need it's own server - it'll sit quite happily on an existing
server (Nottingham's install runs off the main webserver with no
problems).

If it's on a server, the work is made online, so there is no uploading
to a VLE to do afterwards.

It might be hard for me justifying a server but what are the advantages?

Set up XAMPP on your machine and you can easily setup toolkits as a
local installation: here is some info on the site...

Then you can show how it would look if you do go ahead and set it up,

At this stage I will just be doing demo sessions. I think a server
setup would be further down the line so am currently looking for the
easiest option to hopefully encourage others to have a go with.

Online toolkits, or use the toolkits in 2.16 on windows: create a
template project, which does much the same thing. There are a number of
advantages to getting a toolkits server setup though.

No, I don't do coding. Should I use this or online toolkits?

2.15 is the current one. 2.6 was old (15 > 6)

Depends on your skills: do you code?

Hello there,

I am currently looking at Xerte with a view to using it in our
University. Having gone to the Xerte page, there is a download for
v2.15 but there is an RSS feed to say that V2.6 has been released, how
do I download that? Or should I go straight for 3.0 beta at this stage?

Regards,

Kerrie.
