Further to your posting, I wanted to get something off to you asap, but was
a bit short of time this morning.
The picture you included suggests a number of possible issues with what you
are doing.
When I discussed the different files in an earlier posting, i.e. .rlm, .xwd
and .xml this was because I had interpreted your posting as being interested
in how everything hung together (which may be the correct interpretation),
however you only need to concern yourself with these files should you want
to develop your own wizards, from the ones that already exist. To make use
of a page wizard you can pretty much ignore the different files and what
their roles are.
It is worth noting that a xerte project file has a .rlo extension (if made
using the pageTemplates project wide template it has a .rlt extension).
If you look at the image you posted it looks like you have opened the .rlm
file in xerte - look at the path displayed at the top of the Xerte window.
Looking at the bottom image in the jpg file you posted I am assuming that
you have created a Xerte project in a folder called "wizard" which has the
path c:\documents and settings\deborah\desktop\wizard\
and that in the wizard folder you have created a folder called pages.
If this is the case there should be a file in the wizard folder with a .rlo
extension. This is the project file that you need to open in Xerte. Once the
project file has been opened Xerte should display the path of the project in
its title bar, so that you will see that the .rlo file has been opened.
Once you have got this far you should see that one of the first icons in the
project icon tree structure is the interface icon. This is the icon you
select prior to adding a new page based on a page wizard.
Once the page wizard has been added using the process described in my
earlier posting, you should see a page icon below the interface icon (look
in the picture you posted at the icon labeled "categories" that icon is the
icon used for a page that is based on a wizard. Double click on that icon to
open the wizard.
Normally you would never open the individual files that make up a page
wizard in Xerte, you let the xerte interface handle those files for you.
If you have downloaded the "xerte 2 project that demonstrates the use of
page wizards" which is available from the Page Wizards page of the Xerte
Wiki then I recommend you
a) look at the folder structure which should clear up for you the location
of the project .rlo file and the pages folder, containing the folders for
each Page Wizard based page.
b) Open the project in Xerte and take a look at page 9 if you are unsure
that your page wizards are installed correctly and page 10 for a
demonstration of how to use a page wizard. This will show you which icon to
click on to open a page wizard once the page has been created. It will also
explain why your project keeps minimizing.
I am sure that once you get things working OK you will be fascinated with
what you can achieve by using the Page Wizards.
If there is anything you are still confused about please keep asking.
There is no such thing as a stupid question.
Kind regards
Johnathan
