Shouldn't be ldap as your past that if you can see the properties page.
The zip file is written by the same user as all the other files so it's unlikely to be rights.
The lack of a response suggests another error is occurring. Does the problem affect all files?
Are you comfortable with php? I could suggest some tests / or install fiddler / or ask the technical person about the web logs

Maybe something along the lines of no permission to call the zip process, no permission to create the zip temp file, no permission to write the zip itself.

HTTP 500
Most likely causes:
* The website is under maintenance.
* The website has a programming error.
