Try entering ASCII char 7 in the xml file. Alt+7 (numeric pad) gives *
Might work. Shouldn't break anything.
Also String.fromCharCode(8226) produces the bullet glyph, but I'm not
sure how you would get that into the xml.

Had tried that and got the literal.
It's being pulled out of an xml table and set via:
tempNode.childNodes[2].childNodes[0].nodeValue =
unitDataList[iconindex].PAGE[i].MEMO1;
I don't know if eval would do it, or it would but break other stuff.
