Do we have any more information about where it will be held in Nottingham?
Are you able to recommend any local accommodation? If it is being held at the University would it be possible to book a room at the University?
With respect to the agenda. You may recall I raised the possibility of doing something to help On-line toolkit and pageTemplate users to flex their developer muscles by learning how Page Wizards can help them to start down the path of developing in Xerte. Is this something you would want to include during the two days.
If we are going to provide some input to help others improve their skills can I flag a few things I would be interested in if anyone would like to put on a brief session.
a) how to create a simple flash project (swf file) that can receive from xerte and pass back to xerte data and how to call it from xerte.
b) passing data between scorm and xerte
c) anything to do with Xerte 3
Kind regards
Johnathan

15th 16th September, here at Nottingham. So far it's pretty much an open session. The meeting originally got set up to further some discussions between a group of us looking at internationalisation: the issues were getting too hectic to properly discuss on email / lists, so we decided to get together and talk it through when we can all eyeball the same code and maybe prototype some stuff, or at least pseudo-code it.
We've since been approached by a potential sponsor for that work, so she will attend the meeting and the first part of it will be to listen to what she's trying to achieve: this might lead to some funding for an open source team to work on some solutions.
The rest of the time is open for whatever we want to talk about: a few things I'd like to see on the agenda are managing release cycles and other stuff that robustifies the open source community working on Xerte stuff: really how we, as an open source community of developers, can work more effectively together.
Anyone is welcome to attend, I'll put up some more info somewhere, and a sign-up sheet soon. If you want to get involved and play an active role in helping take the project forward, you should try and attend.
I'm putting the evening of the 14th, and all of the 15th and 16th aside. If people want to pitch up in the afternoon / evening of 14th, then we can meet up then, maybe for food,
J

I like that idea Franck. You are coming to the developer unconference I hope? :)

It would be nice to be able to pair words/images, words/sounds, sound/images, sound/words and to be offered to generate a set of 6, 9 or 12 cards according to the level of difficulty desired.

The memory game: the cards have words ? Or pictures? So, in the editor I just type lots of words:
Mandolin,banjo,guitar,piano
And then two cards are created for each word?
Or each word is associated with a picture?
How does it work?
Crosswords are hard to do. Open to suggestions but they are harder than you first think: how does the editing work, and how does the exercise get generated? How does the user enter the letters in the cells? The word search is also a bit tricky to generate dynamically, and again, I';m not sure how the author would create / edit one?

Hi,
3 ideas of word games that would be nice to have on toolkits (you'll probably answer that I'm very welcome to code them. I would if I could)
- Memory game with a set of cards to turn until you've finished matching the pairs
- Crosswords
- Words hidden in a box filled with random letters
Cheers, Franck

Hiya,
I want to make a new toolkits zip, 1.7, file before ALT-C in September, so am going through, tidying up, adding some new models etc. This will be minor release just to synch everything up and put out the latest additions and fixes.
5 new templates in the main template:
JMolViewer, for viewing 3D models of molecular structures;
Matching Texts interaction for matching pairs of text chunks
Modify Exercise, moved into the main template form mediaInteractions. Allows the user to re-write a piece of text and compare to a model answer.
Games: Hangman. Any more ideas for games?
Google Translate tool for translating languages.
Examples are all in the page types example file:
http:///www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560<http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560>
Is there anything else you want adding?
