Xerte uploads the image from where you browsed to to a media folder
associated with the project. Changing the extension doesn't change the
format. Open the original picture in any picture editor and resave as jpeg.
Could you add image as attachment and I'll see if it works on my copy of XOT

Hi nigel,

I have tried to change the extension, and have resaved it as a jpeg but the
same error occurs.

The path is weird though it shows Filedirectory + media/[filename] i.e.
dc.jpeg.

I have no folder called media where I am importing this from? Do these
images need to be relocated to the xertetoolkits folder in the XAMMP
directory? I see media folders in there?

I dn't see how that could make a difference - but I am not the most
technical person around so I am trying to be as pedantic as possible.

Have upload a jpg into Hotspot and works fine for me.  I have tried .bmp, do
not get a message but picture doesn't appear either under preview or edit,
get a collapsed box. Trued same photo converted to .jpeg and that worked
fine. PNG file is also fine.

Have come across this once before and that turned out to be an incorrect
file format.

I have tried a couple of images and still does the same.

I will try it tonight on my personal p.c. at home - I have a separate
install there and will email all tomorrow. If it works I assume there is a
rights issue on the folders by default at work.

ok worth checking - sometimes people fall foul of special characters in file
names or trying to use .bmp or .eps etc

Perhaps try another image just to check it's not a problem with the specific
image.

The file name Is dc and it is a png. Its just an image - I am trying to
create a hotspot image.

What's the file name and file type of the image you have uploaded?

Is there a particular environment (I,e, java) or setting (enable macromedia)
on the webpage I need to have in order to view/upload this? I am still not
able to see where the error is?

I have already tried that. 

 I am importing this from a personal folder and it is showing in the media
folders
(C:\xampp\htdocs\xertetoolkits\USER-FILES\6-guest2-mediaInteractions\media)
there is still the same error. What I was asking was whether there is
another reason. Apologies I was not very clear.

Apparently this is a rights issue on my personal folders? I searched online
