sorry missed the fact that the previous post was about Xerte not XOT.
However it would be useful to know if there is a solution other than images
to display special chars/code in an XOT page as this has cropped up as a
question during f2f training.
I just tested just using < with the plain text page and I don't think it is
escaped. Here's my test file
<http://xerte5.techdis.palepurple.co.uk/play_5158>
http://xerte5.techdis.palepurple.co.uk/play_5158
Which has the following on page 1:
This is a test of displaying a less than symbol in an XOT plan text page
Testing so far indicates that either < or the less than symbol doesn't
display and prevents any text after the symbol from displaying
e.g. there is text after this line but not showing as this line ends with
the less than symbol <
this text is after the less than symbol
As you'll see it doesn't show anything after the < e.g. the last line.
The > symbol doesn't cause the same problem as shown on page 2.

the question is about Xerte, not toolkits. In toolkits you ought to be able
to write <> etc anywhere - it ought to be escaped??

Hi Julian should that work in the plain text page? It doesn't appear to.

Hi,
I'm having a problem on Xerte, and I'm looking for someone that could please
help me.
I would like to know why I cannot write the < character in the text icon.
When I use it, all the text bellow disappear on the preview. Those anyone
knows how to solve this?
Thanks,
Bárbara Furtado
