[Xerte] Issues with Online Toolkits /Xerte with quiz

You can replace the quiz.rlm file without having to upgrade the whole
installation so you should be able to get your current version to the same
point as your hosted site version.

Has your hosted example got the quiz set to random rather than sequence? As
I said I think changing the scheme does unfortunately reload the quiz being
viewed and I suspect the effect of this is exaggerated when the quiz is set
to random because you don't always see the same question.

I'll have to leave Julian to respond as to whether there is a way of
stopping the change of scheme reloading the quiz I dodn't have time to
investigate that at the moment.

Also although it's not the point I would add that in most situations if a
learner needs to change the colour scheme for an accessibility reason or
just user preference they would most likely have done that at the beginning
of the LO rather than midway through a quiz which is probably why this
hasn't cropped up as an issue before.

Thanks for the link,

I have created a screncast of the issue

This is with the version we are currently using

http://www.screencast.com/users/jak82/folders/Jing/media/84f76b2c-ea01-4436-
9de4-ec8e1ba8130b

As you can see it is pretty buggy

This version (the new test one on our hosted site)

http://www.screencast.com/users/jak82/folders/Jing/media/5a0de83b-fc1b-4850-
9647-588b3b154ee1

Is better in the sense that the quiz does not disapear but is does seem to
jump between questions.

Thanks for the help

Chris

I think changing the colour scheme midway through completing a quiz does
effectively reset the quiz attempt which is unfortunate and possibly
something which can be fixed - I'm sure Julian will respond. But I can't
replicate the other errors you report.

Try page 32 of the page types example
http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560
<http://www.nottingham.ac.uk/toolkits/play_560and/or> and/or my quick test
here

Try replacing
yourinstall\modules\xerte\parent_templates\Nottingham\models\quiz.rlm with
the one from the latest download.

If you download it and run it locally do you get the same problem?

Hi,

There seems to be a major issue with the template colour schemes option and
the quiz.

If a student tries to change the colour scheme while in a quiz the quiz
starts to act funny.

So far with regards to 'funny'

We have had,

* Quiz moves onto next question but title strap still thinks its the
previous question (could affect SCORM grades)

*  Quiz actually Disappears

*  Question Straps say undefined

* Quiz disappears and a restart button appears

Has anyone came across this/is there a fix , if there is not we might have
to disable the feature,

The behaviour acts a little better in the newest evrsion, though still
appears to 'break' the quiz.

Many Thanks

Chris
