Genius
I can confirm this works! Excellent, we’ll now have both staff and students churning out RLOs ☺
Thanks for the clear instructions Pat.

Sigh
LDAP_filter and LDAP_preference stay as they are in sitedetails
Ldap_host becomes
Ldap_host1$$$ldap_host2 – even if they are the same host, got to be in twice
Ldap_port$$$ldap_port2 – as above, if the same, duplicate
Same for bind_pwd
Same for basedn
Same for bind_dn
And that should work
<closes manual, this takes a while, quite a lot of pages in it so it’s quite heavy>

I think we all missed that page in the manual! ;-)
Given that it's easiest for people to do this via management.php can you provide an anonymised example?

You need to do it for each ldap value in the database.
It clearly says this on page 2381238283823 of the manual

We’ve tried:
LDAP Base -
OU=Staff,DC=net,DC=marjon,DC=ac,DC=uk$$$OU=Students,DC=net,DC=marjon,DC=ac,DC=uk
Login then fails?

Ok, use $$$ to separate entries in each LDAP section
That should work for you

According to our CS team – yes it does (although they don’t use the root as it contains stuff that shouldn’t go into Moodle).

Doesn’t let people login using LDAP account with base set to DC=net,DC=marjon,DC=ac,DC=uk
only works with OU=Staff,DC=net,DC=marjon,DC=ac,DC=uk

Thanks for comments. We’ve tried using semi-colons to separate the strings out – which consequently we use for our Moodle but Xerte doesn’t seem to like it.
‘Staff’ and ‘Student’ OUs are the highest level we can use – one level up is the route which Xerte never liked last year.
Might have to bite the bullet and set up a second XOT afterall…

I seem to recall at my old college we got round a similar problem by pointing to the global catalogue.
If all else fails you could always use a second install just for students.

Hi
We’ve been running XOT on IIS for a while now. Staff have happily been using the system. I am planning on rolling out XOT further as some of our students are going to create Learning Objects for assessment.
The only problem with our XOT install is that we are pointing our LDAP base at a “staff” OU. Students are in a separate OU (“students”). Is there any way to specify multiple OUs in the LDAP base script?
Any help gratefully received
Adam
