[Xerte] Hyphens in XML tag names

I was going mad trying to find out why a bit of XML I am retrieving with sendandLoad was working for the root levels but returning NaN if I tried to retrieve something deeper in the tree.

Turns out if I replaced a hyphen in the second level tag, it works.

Anyone tell me what I'm doing that makes the - in the tag act like a minus sign?
