[Xerte] Xerte sandpit and installing

Regarding issue 1 the TechDis sandpit works fine with images so a few
possibilities...

make sure there are no special characters in filenames - ideally no spaces
either but should still work with spaces
make sure the image files are .jpg, .gif, .png, or .swf not un-supported
formats like .bmp or .wmf
I don't know if Xerte or flash has a bit depth restriction but perhaps
ensure .jpgs are 24bit

Hi. 2 questions regarding xerte:

1. I am experimenting with xerte in the sandpit. It seems that I cannot
easily upload media. I have uploaded one jpg file, but when I try to upload
others they do not come up. When I try to preview I get the message "You
must select media before you can preview it" but it is uploaded with this
address:     FileLocation + 'media/new videos.jpg'       The image that
works has the same address, but others do not work at all.

2. Am finding it really hard to upload xerte to my webserver (bluehost). I
fail at the first hurdle. l I have made the root folder writable (777) and
others (setup, etc) but when I try to install, it doesnt like it. It says
'dangerously writable'...and it changes these folders back to unwritable!

Any tips to these basic Qs?
